Welcome To Vibrant Sound Media

Hello there and welcome to my brand new website. Thanks for stopping by, I really hope you like it.

If this is your first time here, let me introduce myself, I’m Charles. I live in Warrington – bang in the middle between Manchester and Liverpool – with my partner and daughter. I’m not originally from the North West though. I grew up in East Northamptonshire in a town called Raunds.

I’ve always loved audio. My love of music began with my parents introducing me to The Beatles, Queen, Genesis and Meat Loaf. From there I found and fell in love with the radio. It played music that my parents thought was repetitive and noisy and introduced me to voices of John Peel, Simon Mayo and Chris Moyles.

Inspired by these voices, the music they played and the stories they told, I left rural Northants for the bright lights of the North West. Warrington became my home as I continued my education through a degree course in Media Studies that concentrated on radio production.

I loved my time at Padgate Campus, making lots of friends and loads of radio. I soon established myself as a presenter on the student radio station – firstly named The Source, later The Cat 1251.

I loved my 2 hour slot on a Friday afternoon between 4 and 6. I held it for all 4 years of my stay at uni, as well as presenting various other shows when asked.

When I left uni, the radio dream never quite took off. I fell into a job at a call centre and while I spent a period volunteering at my local community radio station, the hours didn’t always work with my shifts. After a year or so, the radio dream drifted away from me once more.

It was in 2018 that I made the decision to go back to what I love. I founded Vibrant Sound Media a full 11 years after leaving university and while I’ve not been back on the radio (yet!), I’ve presented hundreds of podcast episodes and recorded dozens of voiceovers.

As a freelance podcast presenter, producer and voiceover artist, I’m living the dream I first had as a teenager. I present a weekly podcast all about my football team, Northampton Town and have worked with companies including the BBC, The Athletic and The Guardian. You’ll find more about the podcasts I’ve presented, produced and edited on my portfolio page.

As well watching The Cobblers – Northampton Town – I’m also a keen runner. I’ve completed several 5K’s and 10K’s, 2 marathons and a couple of ultramarathons too. While I’ve not made a podcast about my running adventures just yet, it probably won’t belong before I combine the two.

So that’s a bit about me. You’ll find out more throughout the website which, by the way, has been a labour of love and hard work. Not for me but the wonderful Amy at Two Cows Web. Amy has been magnificently patient with me over the past 9 months or so. She’s taught me all I need to know about creating a website and enough of it has stuck to make sure it stays online!

I also want to say a huge thank you to Neil at In Hand Design for the  all new Vibrant Sound Media logo and branding. In truth, he designed it all well over a year ago but it’s finally out there for the world to see and I couldn’t be happier with it.

If you’re looking for someone to help you with your podcast or you need a voiceover for your training video, advert or audiobook please get in touch. I’ve got a very simple contact form you can fill in here. I’d love to chat about your audio project and how I can help you make it stand out in the most vibrant way possible.
